Student Using Cracking The Code

Cracking The Code benefits students who demonstrate the following traits:

  • They lack fluency and they focus on individual words instead of meaning
  • They read words left to right, one letter - one sound
    (there is read t-h-e-r-e instead of th-ere)
  • Lack of comprehension enables them to wildly guess words
    based on one or two letters

    

  • Lack of meaning from text causes boredom with reading and the question,
    “Why should I read?”
